The Konza Prairie, in the Flint Hills of Kansas, is sacred ground to me. The first time I stood on that prairie, I felt awkward and unsure. My then-boyfriend, now husband, was acting strange, and I could not quite read the moment. By the time we reached the summit, everything made sense.
He asked me to marry him!
We return whenever we can. The tall grasses move like they are breathing. The wind carries through the hills, and the smallest creatures go about their quiet work. Every visit reminds me how big the world is and how small I am inside it. It is humbling in the best way.
The prairie has held my questions, my joy, and my tears. The trail is long enough that by the time I make it back to the car, I have usually found my footing again. It is an honest place. There is no pretending out there.
The Konza has taught me to take up space. To be loud if I need to. To stretch my arms wide. To twirl in the wind alone or beside my husband without apology.
This collection is about expansion. It is about movement. It is about living without waiting for permission.

Taking up space is multifaceted. You can take up space physically by literally making your body appear bigger. We do not need to shrink ourselves down. I hope you practice poses that help you feel more confident.
You are powerful, now own it!
Taking up space emotionally comes with setting boundaries, so that you feel safe enough in your environment to be yourself. This may take some time to practice and implement, and it is so rewarding!
Shrinking our ideas or color choices is not what we’re talking about. I hope, and am working on myself, that you take up all the space with the things you are passionate about in this life, here and now. Follow that light and take up space!
