The Art Collector’s Checklist

For Soulful Explorers, Prairie Lovers, and Bold Dreamers

So, you’ve found a piece of art that’s tugging at your heart. Before you hit “buy,” let’s make sure it’s a match made in pastel heaven. Use this checklist to guide your next investment in original art.

The Checklist

  • Does it make you feel something?

Art isn’t wallpaper, it’s energy. Does this piece remind you of a place you love, a memory you hold, or a version of yourself you want to grow into?

  • Can you picture it in your space?

Look around your home or office. Does this painting add calm, boldness, or curiosity to the room? (Tip: trust your gut, not your wall color, paint can change, art lasts.)

  • Does it reflect you, not just the artist?

Collectors don’t buy my work to “own a Nicole.” They buy because the painting tells their story. Does this piece whisper (or shout): “This belongs to you?”

  • Is it made to last?

Originals + fine art prints should be created with archival materials. That means they won’t yellow, fade, or give up on you. Check the details—quality matters.

  • Does it expand your collection with intention?

Even if it’s your first piece, you’re building a collection. Ask yourself: does this artwork deepen the story your walls are already telling?

Bonus Questions (For the Bold Collector)

  • Does this piece give you that little spark of rebellion, like you’re claiming space for yourself?

  • Would Future You thank Present You for saying yes?

  • Are you smiling right now just imagining it on your wall? (That’s your sign, friend.)

Next Step

If you’re checking most of these boxes, it’s time. Art is more than decoration; it’s a declaration.
